key west 08- key west cemetery

IMG_9327sm

my grandfather took to walking around cemeteries for the last few years of his life. i was still just a child, but i always found this really strange. it's not that i was afraid, it just never seemed that appealing. my perspective might have changed now that i've been to the key west cemetery.

this is a must visit if you go to key west. it's 17 acres are located in old town on solares hill. maybe because i wasn't expecting to like it... i loved it. we unfortunately entered at the wrong gate, so we missed picking up the free tour pamphlet my mother read about, which led to us missing some of the more old, historical, funny tombstones. sadly, we only stayed for about 20 min because my poor grandma did something to her back, but those 20 min were awesome. next time i'm in key west, i'm def heading out here again camera in hand.

you can go wander around like we did, however, there's some really great resources and i suggest reading up before going.

feminazi- opening reception tonight

fyi...

FEMINAZI is a two-part group exhibition that explores social commentaries and stigmas associated with a female militant attitude and the perverse contradictions stereotypes carry. What does it mean to be a feminist? Is it not just to be human? Is it possible to be empowered without alienation? FEMINAZI discusses ideas about women, gender inversion, fear, sexuality, and the self-image in a variety of perspectives with visual, musical, and performance-based art. Mature content will be included in this two-part exhibition and may not be suitable for those under the age of 18.
